A 52-year-old man was arrested for drunk driving in Lautoka while two hundred and seven (207) traffic infringement notices were issued for speeding between 6am yesterday morning to 6am this morning.
In Tavua, a 28-year-old woman is admitted at the Tavua Hospital after the vehicle she was travelling in veered off the road yesterday morning.
The victim was one of the three passengers in a car driven by a 26-year-old farmer of Lololevu, Tavua.
It is alleged that when they approached Nakavika in Tavua, the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road.
All the occupants were rushed to the Tavua Hospital whereby the driver, two of his passengers including a 9-month-old baby were seen by the doctor and discharged, while the 28-year-old woman remains admitted in stable condition.
Traffic officers will be out in numbers this morning, however the onus is on drivers to take all necessary safety precautionary measures to avoid accidents.
Accidents occur when road safety is taken lightly, when we turn a blind eye to road rules and laws, and when complacency sets in. Let’s work together to keep our roads safe.
