Another step towards strengthening access to justice initiatives of the Fiji Police Force was realized this past week following the closing of the New Zealand Police Video Recording interview Room training in the Western Division.
The Divisional Police Commander West Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa closed the two day workshop is supported through the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and New Zealand High Commission, Suva, Fiji Fiji Police Partnership Program.
The training was delivered by Senior NZ Police Advisors Michelle Gillespie and Jasmine Woollett. The new VRI system is based at the Lautoka Police Station.
The digital video recording equipment is the latest information and communications technology (ICT) solutions specifically designed for law enforcement.
The equipment and training is part of a NZ Government support package provided to the organization to support effective and transparent criminal procedures based on international human rights standards.
