The first in a series of monthly virtual meetings for the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP) Executive Leaders Team was held yesterday Chaired by the Acting Chair of the PICP Tonga Police Commissioner Shane McLennan.
The intent of convening the monthly meetings is for Pacific Police Chiefs to discuss progress on initiatives of Programmes Chaired by the respective heads of Pacific law enforcement agencies.
While the PICP ELT team meets twice a year, the monthly meeting is to ensure regular updates are provided on various programmes while at the same time allowing the Chiefs of Police to touch base on issues confronting law enforcement in the Pacific region.
Issues discussed included work on Gender Family Harm Programs, Pacific Law Enforcement Cooperation initiatives, Road Safe Pacific, secondments and police cooperation efforts in the region.
Police Chiefs and representatives in attendance included Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services, Nauru Police Force, Tuvalu police service, Palau Bureau of Public Safety, RSIPF, Tokelau Police Force and the PICP Secretariat from Wellington, New Zealand.
