International Women’s Day Celebration in partnership with the New Zealand High Commission, Suva, Fiji, UNDP Pacific Office in Fiji (UNDP) and the Fiji Police Force Women Advisory Network (WAN)


The International Women’s Day Celebration in partnership with the New Zealand High Commission, Suva, Fiji, UNDP Pacific Office in Fiji (UNDP) and the Fiji Police Force Women Advisory Network (WAN) was held today at the Fiji Police Academy.

The celebrations included stakeholders, WAN members and the 41 Women who are undergoing their Police Basic Recruit Course from Fiji Police, Nauru Police Force and Tuvalu police service Guest Speakers included the New Zealand High Commissioner Ms Charlotte Darlow, UNDP Resident Representative Dawn Del Rio, Mrs Merewalesi Verebalavu one of tne first Women to be recruited in the Police Force in 1970, and the Co-Chair Fiji Women’s Fund, Ms Patrica Naisara.

The Women recruits were encouraged to keep following their dreams.

The Fiji Police Force Director Training and Education, Acting Senior Superintendent of Police (A/SSP) Aseri Nakibo said the event was a success thanks to the partnership of the New Zealand High Commission and UNDP.
