Courtesy Call


Fiji’s Ambassador to Indonesia His Excellency Amena Yauvoli paid a courtesy call to the Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew at the Fiji Police Headquarters this morning.

Ambassador Yauvoli congratulated the Acting Commissioner on his appointment and acknowledged the direction the organization was heading under his leadership.

Discussions revolved around the continuation of training? and police cooperation efforts? with the Indonesian Police and the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions.

Ambassador Yauvoli said continuity ?in capacity building efforts with t??he Indonesian Police and leading training institutions ?was important ???considering the demands and needs of policing worldwide.

He said with emerging transnational threats?,? reviving training opportunities between the two institutions would greatly benefit policing efforts in tackling the narcotics trade, cybercrime and technical support on investigations.

Senior management training opportunities were also discussed at Indonesia’s renowned Sespimen Staff College and other training institutions for emerging leaders considering the likes of the Acting Commissioner Juki Fong Chew, Assistant Commissioner of Police Sakeo Ganivatu, Director Operations SSP Kasiano Vusonilawe and other senior officers were recipients of training exchange opportunities under the Memorandum of Understanding on security cooperation between the Indonesian National Police and the Fiji Police Force.

Ambassador Yauvoli said with INP’s vast experiences and expertise in specialized fields of policing and security management, it was important to reinvigorate the MOU between the two institutions to boost international police cooperation efforts.

The Acting Commissioner thanked the Ambassador for his visit and said the organization looked forward to re-engaging with their Indonesian Police comrades ?under? various police cooperation? programmes.

Ambassador Yauvoli was accompanied by Mr Hansel Whippy, Asia Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Also in attendance was the Director International Relations SSP Ulaiasi Ravula.
