The United Nations Pre-Deployment Training


Participants of the United Nations Pre-Deployment Training were today introduced to Humanitarian Work by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegate, Mr Eric Meier Junior. 

The two day workshop aims to assist and guide the Police Officers in their Preparation for UN Peacekeeping Duties. 

"Everything we are talking about and discussing with these Police Officers is about protection of the civilian population and how they carry out their roles in their capacity as UN Police Officers wherever they are going," said Mr Eric. 

ICRC is an independent, neutral organization ensuring humanitarian protection and assistance for victims of war and armed violence. 

Currently there are Seven Officers in South Sudan. 

143 Police Officers have been on UN Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan since the 20th January, 2011. 

There is currently one officer in UNISFA and the mission there started on the 10th February, 2020.

The Pre-Deployment Training ends next week Friday.
