Congratulations to Police Constable Kacaraini Ravula and Constable Alini Manumanunivalu for being the first women officers to join the Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU) as Narcotic Detector Dog handlers.
The duo were selected after a week-long orientation program, followed by an interview for the position last week.
The interview panel consisted of New Zealand Police officers who are based in Fiji working with the Fiji Police Force under the Fiji Police Partnership Program, senior officers from the K9 Unit and Human Resources Management (HRM) Unit also including senior custom officers from Fiji Revenue and Customs Service.
The selection panel was chaired by the FPF Deputy Director HRM, Acting Superintendent of Police Jovilisi Leweniqila.
Constable Ravula was shortlisted for the selection process from the Eastern Division and Constable Manumanunivalu was shortlisted from the Southern Division.
The two are currently undergoing further training at the FDDU base at Nasese, before they will be deployed to their posts in the Western and Southern Division respectively. New Zealand High Commission, Suva, Fiji New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
