Opening of Sergeant’s Qualifying Course


Forty-police officers are undergoing the one month Sergeant’s Qualifying Course at the Police Special Response Unit in Makoi, Nasinu.

Opening the training was the Chief Administration Officer (CAO) Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Meli Sateki who reiterated the importance of training and education.

“When you lack knowledge, you lack confidence to lead and make informed decisions.

Sergeants are important in the structure of the organization and we look to you to be able to lead the Corporals and Constables under your command as you are on the frontline.”

The one month training covers modules in leadership, management, station and administration and overall policing duties.

“As leaders you need to lead by example in the way you conduct your duties.

That will require self-discipline.

You need to be able to draw the line and make decisions that will be positively impact service delivery".

Of the 40 participants, 14 are women officers.
