A batch of women police officers are currently undergoing the final selection process to join the Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU).
The officers were selected following the Open Day for female officers last year which was conducted to encourage women participation.
This past week, the officers underwent an awareness program conducted by Sergeant Michele Gillespie and Sergeant Wally Kopa from the New Zealand Police, who are based in Fiji working with the FPF under the Fiji Police Partnership Programme, on what to expect during the selection process for this role.
The successful candidates will become the first female Narcotics Detector Dog Handlers to join the FDDU.
Upon selection and further training, the two successful candidates will be based in Nadi and Suva, respectively.
