Courtesy Call


Senior officials from the Embassy of Japan in Fiji paid a courtesy call on the Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew this morning.

Meeting with the Acting Commissioner of Police and Director International Relations Senior Superintendent of Police Ulaiasi Ravula were the Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission Mr Kenichiro Tanaka, First Secretary Development Cooperation Mr Yamada Yosuke, Second Secretary Captain Takamitsu Sugisaki and Mr Nacanieli Delana Security Manager (Security/Defence Cooperation Section).

Mr Tanaka said the Japanese Government was happy to see the maritime capabilities such as the Rigid Inflatable boats deployed during national operations.

The Acting Commissioner said the Rigid Inflatable Boats were not only used during drug operations but during the elections.

He added the rubber dinghy boats have assisted operations during the periods of unfavourable weather and with Fiji still in the cyclone season, the capabilities were ready to be deployed when the need arises.
