A briefing on the progress of the Fiji Police Support Programme (FPSP) was conducted to the Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew by senior officials from the UNDP Pacific Office in Fiji this morning.
FPSP Programme Manager Mr Rustam Pulatov and National Project Support Specialist Mr Christopher Yee met with the Acting Commissioner Juki Fong Chew and the Director International Relations Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ulaiasi Ravula to provide an overview of key events planned for the year.
The FPSP is a project funded by the New Zealand Government with UNDP as the implementing partner.
Mr Pulatov said key events include a board meeting and annual planning workshop, consultations on a new Sexual Offences Unit Standard Operating Procedure, National conference focused on Women in Policing, the expansion of human rights training for officers serving in remote areas, and ongoing efforts towards enhancing the implementation and utilization of the First Hour Procedure and Video Recording Interview Rooms to name a few.
The Acting Commissioner assured the UNDP executives of the organization's commitment towards the implementation of the scope of work under the FPSP, as it will enhance the organisation's early access to justice and gender equality and empowerment efforts through the identified programmes.
