Be Alert

The Fiji Police Force is calling on everyone to be Alert when out shopping.

Many people will be out this weekend doing their last minute back to school shopping.

The Fiji Police Force Chief Operations Officer (COO) Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Livai Driu said police officers will be patrolling to ensure that we have an incident free weekend.

“Our officers will be out and about patrolling this weekend, due to the increase in shoppers in all town centers,” said ACP Driu.

Here are some tips to be aware of while shopping this weekend

•Park in a well-lighted space, and be sure to lock the car, close the windows, and hide shopping bags and gifts in the trunk.

•Deter pickpockets and purse-snatchers by keeping your eyes ahead of you and not distracted on your phone.

•Keep your wallet in a hard-to-reach place, and wherever possible, don’t carry excess cash and instead use the Mpaisa or, MyCash Services or EFTPOS Cards.

•Stay alert while using ATMs or other electronic devices in public.

Don’t let anyone else see your PIN.
