Members of the Communities in the Northern Division living in low lying and known flood prone areas are advised to take necessary precautionary measures.
The National Disaster Management Office has issued an alert for people living on low line areas to start moving to higher grounds.
Chief Operations Officer (COO) Acting Assistant Commissioner A/ACP Livai Driu said teams are on standby to assist those impacted by flash flooding.
A/ACP Driu says those living near rivers and creeks are to remain vigilant and keep a close watch over their children.
He is also calling on the public to refrain from swimming in swollen rivers and crossing flooded roads.
"Motorists are to adopt safe driving practices to avoid accidents as visibility will be limited and roads conditions a safety threat."
He adds warnings and advisories are issued for the safety of the general public and must not be taken lightly.
