Funeral of Late Constable Vakasa


The community of Navoidi in Sabeto gathered in numbers yesterday to farewell the late Police Constable (PC) 4472 Jone Vakasa.

Described as a people's person, the late PC Vakasa was remembered as an officer who treated everyone in the Community with respect and had nothing but love for everyone he had come into contact with.

The late Constable joined the Fiji Police Force as a Special Constable in 1989, he resigned and later joined the Regular Force in 2010.

He had served in Samabula, Namaka and Sabeto Police Station.

Officer in Charge of Namaka Policing District (OCPD/Namaka) Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Tupa Talemainuisiladi described the late Constable as being a very humble person.

"He is always quite and when things gets tense in the Station, PC Jone would calmly offer solutions to whatever situations we were in.

And his solutions usually worked", said ASP Talemainuisiladi.

The OCPD said that the late Constable was dedicated and committed to his faith and this had created healthy relationship between the Force and members of his community and church.

ASP Talemainuisiladi said PC Jone was the New Methodist Christian Fellowship (NMCF) Senior Pastor in the Sabeto area and his time away from work was spent in spreading the word of God to his community.

OCPD/ Namaka said PC Jone was a great asset in the Namaka Policing District and his dedication will surely be missed.

The late PC Vakasa was 53 years old when he was called to rest on the 19/01/23.

He is survived by his wife Verenaisi Nasau and they have three children.
