Courtesy Call

Nauru Police Force Commissioner Iven Notte paid a courtesy call on the Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho this morning where discussions revolved around strengthening capacity cooperation efforts.

Commissioner Notte acknowledged the Fiji Police for supporting capacity building programs over the years which have included a long history of Basic Recruits Course training for Nauruan Police officers.

Last year they were able to send their first United Nations Peacekeeping contingent to South Sudan, and Commissioner Notte requested assistance with training and accreditation of its next batch of officers to be deployed, as Fiji had earlier stated its intent of assisting neighbouring Pacific island law enforcement as a regional hub for UN Police peacekeeping training.

Brigadier General Qiliho assured Commissioner Notte of Fiji's support in other areas of capacity building training in investigations, prosecution and welfare support through the FPF Psychology Unit.
