The Deputy Commissioner of Police Itendra Nair closed the two-day Professional Development Workshop for the Fiji Police Academy Staff with a reminder that as educators and trainers it was not only important to be able to impart knowledge but to be able to influence an individual’s attitude towards the policing profession.
The two-day workshop was specifically designed for the FPA staff with the intention of empowering them with basics of administration, leadership, learning, teaching and other necessities of transforming the Fiji Police Academy into a professional standardized institution under the Fiji Higher Education Commission.
DCP Nair said the Academy staff shoulder a lot of responsibility not only in the training of officers from those who come in as new recruits to those in service, but they need to be constantly evaluating the policing landscape and see whether what is being taught at the Academy is reflective and relevant to operational demands on the ground.
He acknowledged the Director Training Acting Senior Superintendent of Police (A/SSP) Aseri Nakibo for convening the workshop ahead of what is going to be another busy year of training.
