Police Quick Response


The quick response by Namaka Police led to the arrest of a man who tried to rob a shop keeper in Westfield, Nadi this afternoon.

The Chief Operations Officer (COO) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abdul Khan said three officers were deployed after the report was received and upon arriving at the scene they were confronted by the suspect who was armed with a cane knife.

The officers were able to subdue the suspect where in the process two officers sustained injuries.

ACP Khan said the suspect also sustained injuries and is being treated at the Nadi Hospital with the two officers.

The Chief Operations Officer said operations are on high alert to opportunistic crimes such as robberies and theft this festive season, and have adopted the necessary operational posture to ensure the smooth conduct of security details for the General Elections as well as routine operations.
