The Chief Operations Officer (COO) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abdul Khan has called on parents and guardians of students attending Dudley Intermediate School not to place too much pressure on their children.
The Chief Operations Officer shared his own experiences as a student of Dudley Intermediate and Dudley High School from 1988 to 1992, encouraging studens to utilise all the educational opportunities available to them.
“Believe in yourself, with all the opportunities available to you, the sky’s the limit”.
Speaking at the schools Award Ceremony, ACP Khan directed majority of his address to parents and guardians.
“Don’t put unnecessary pressure on your children, as they are all special in their own unique ways.
Some will be destined for office work, some more technical and hands on work and some may find that their talent lies in sports”.
“It is our job as parents to support them, guide, nurture and provide them the safe space to openly communicate their ambitions and share their problems.
If they are to realize their dreams and it is our duty to prepare them for that.
We need to work together in building the foundation based on respect, humility and knowledge of the world that awaits them”.
The Dux was awarded to Pelenaisi Ginigini.
