Fijian Police officers are attending the first face to face Pacific Community for Law Enforcement Cooperation (PCLEC) National Coordinators and Pacific Police Training Advisory Group (PPTAG) meeting in Brisbane, Australia.
Providing the progress briefs were Assistant Superintendent ASP) Jonati Daucakacaka and Inspector (IP) Jekope Latu.
Director International Relations Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ulaiasi Ravula said this is the first opportunity for regional coordinators to meet face to face since the opening of international travel.
PCLEC is a regional mechanism under the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police that works to consolidate regional, trilateral and bilateral police development through a decentralized model supporting capability development in law enforcement priority areas.
A Fiji PCLEC Chapter was opened in November, 2020 based at the Police Headquarters where officers have been seconded to ensure initiatives under the PCLEC umbrella continued to roll out as planned.
PPTAG also a regional mechanism operating under the theme “By the Pacific, For the Pacific” facilitates the engagement of Pacific Police in the design, development and delivery of Police training.
SSP Ravula said the seconded officers ASP Daucakacaka and IP Latu provided briefs on the progress of project work undertaken to date.
Also present for the meeting is PICP Seconded Pacific Officer ASP Ulaiasi Tamanisau.
The Director Training SSP Bereta Naisua and Deputy Director International Relations SP Ilaitia Caginavanua are also attending the meeting.
