The Eastern Division Send Off Parade was conducted this morning at Nausori’s Syria Park attended by more than 300 Police officers.
The Chief Operations Officer (COO) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abdul Khan in addressing the men and women officers said, “Never lose sight of why we are part of this organization.
I reiterate the Commissioner of Police’s words, ``we are here to serve and not be served”.
More than 300 officers were on parade this morning for the Chief Operation Officer’s final address before deployment for the special 2022 General Elections and routine operations in the coming days.
ACP Khan reminded the officers not to deviate from their core responsibilities and called on the senior members of the Eastern Division command group to ensure the welfare of officers under their command was being looked after.
He reiterated the need for police officers to remain apolitical and understand their role in ensuring a safe and conducive environment for the conduct of the 2022 Elections.
ACP Khan said with the focus on the General Elections, officers must not let their guards down and those assigned routine operations must be alert to their criminal landscape.

He also acknowledged a few members of the winning 2022 Ratu Sukuna Police Rugby team on parade, adding the win was likened to receiving an early Christmas gift ACP Khan said the win was celebrated by all, however such is policing that they had to remain focused on the maintenance of law and order particularly with a busy festive season projected.
Officers who will be deployed to the maritime islands in the Eastern Division will be casting their votes via postal voting.
