Coordinated efforts between Divisional Taskforces has led to the arrest of a 22-year old man alleged to have stolen and stripped a taxi belonging to a 65-year old man.
Chief Operations Officer (COO) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abdul Khan said the taxi was reported stolen from Qiolevu Road, Navuso on the 6th of November and a report lodged at the Nausori Police Station.
The suspect had hired the victim’s taxi from Valelevu and upon reaching Navuso, threatened him before fleeing with the taxi.
ACP Khan said through coordinated efforts between the East, South and Western Divisions, the Taskforce arrested the suspect in Naidovi, Sigatoka yesterday with the vehicle registration changed to a private number.
He said investigators were however able to confirm that the vehicle belonged to the victim and conducted another raid where they recovered parts of the taxi alleged removed by the suspect.
The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
