Community Engagement in Lau

A #duavatacommunitypolicing driven Volleyball Tournament supported by the business community saw youths from the four villages on Totoya Island in the Lau Group gather for their Totoya Fun Day.

With the support of Axellerate Sports and YWAM Ships Aotearoa, the tournament was held at Dravuwalu Village last Friday where the Ketei Village Men’s Volleyball team won the Volleyball Tournament while Dravuwalu Women were crowned the Netball Queens during the Totoya Fun Day.

The Police Volleyball Team took up the officials roles and conducted Volleyball clinics a day before the tournament.

Axellerate Sports provided the Volleyball and Netball Uniforms for the participating teams with safety awareness tips messages printed on it.

ANZ Fiji and Unit Trust of Fiji were also part of the fun day as their representatives conducted financial literateracy sessions.

Tournament Organizer, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Meli Sateki said the Community Policing initiative was an opportunity to bring services closer to those living in the maritime islands and engage with youths.

He thanked the sponsors, stakeholders and everyone who pitched in to make the tournament a success.
