Inspector (IP) Kavit Mani and Police Constable Michael Jang will be departing Fiji to pursue their Bachelors in Public Security at the Jiangsu Police Institute in Nanjing Jiangsu.
The study opportunity is yet another outcome of the partnership between the Fiji Police Force and the People’s Republic of China’s Ministry of Public Security.
The Bachelors Program will cover courses such as public security, investigation, border management (Majoring in Narcotics), criminology, foreign and domestic security, economic crime and defence command.
IP Mani had to temporarily put his studies which began in 2019 on hold due to the global pandemic.
After returning to Fiji, he continued studies online and will now pursue the last few Units back in China at the learning institute.
Originally from Vunivau in Labasa, IP Mani had joined the Fiji Police Force in 2013 and had successfully completed the Officer Cadet Program in 2017.
Meanwhile Police Constable Jang who hails from Salia, Nayau in Lau will be continuing his five year programme in China after completing 2-years online.
The former Marist Brothers High School student joined the Force in 2014 and has served eight years at the Savusavu Police Station.
PC Jang says he is looking forward to completing the Porogramme in the hope of enhancing his knowledge of specialized areas of policing.
The studying opportunities have been facilitated by Fiji’s Ministry of Defense and National Security and China’s Ministry of Public Security as part of the ongoing policing cooperation between the two countries.
The Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho in farewelling the two officers last week wished them well and reminded them of their responsibility in being good ambassadors of Fiji and the organization.
The head of the Fiji Police Force said study opportunities made available to Fiji at leading police training institutions should be well utilised for the sake of enhancing service delivery particularly in specialised fields of policing.
