The Youth With A Mission (YWAM) Ship Aotearoa YWAM Ships Aotearoa was today welcomed to our shores by relevant stakeholders.
They were welcomed by the New Zealand High Commission, Suva, Fiji Counsellor Ms Virginia Dawson, Ministry of Health & Medical Services - Fiji Permanent Secretary Dr James Fong, and the Fiji Police Force's Chief Administration Officer (CAO) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sakeo Ganivatu.
Marty Emmet, the Managing Director of YWAMSHIPS Aotearoa said they exist to serve the people with the love of God.
YWAM is a Non Government Organisation based in New Zealand and all the crew members are volunteers who are here to serve for three months.
Fiji Police Force Chief Administration Officer (CAO) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sakeo Ganivatu said, "Under the “Duavata” Community Policing initiative, our main focus is trying to proactively address issues that give rise to public safety issues and crime and this also includes the health and well-being of our citizens, said ACP Sakeo.
He adds that by working with other organisation on other platforms, the Fiji Police can learn and understand problems people face everyday.
ACP Sakeo has reiterated that the Fiji Police Force is fully supportive of the venture and will render all necessary support to the team.
