11 complete NZ Police training

Eleven Police Officers have successfully completed the two day Fiji Police Partnership Programme Interviewing Workshop facilitated by the New Zealand Police in Suva yesterday.

Closing the two day workshop was the Director Training Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kasiano Vusonilawe who thanked the New Zealand Police Senior Advisors for putting together the training package focused on improving two critical areas of policing namely training and investigations.

The senior New Zealand Police advisors had designed the workshop to assist with the development of interviewing training for the Fiji Police Force.

The workshop was aimed at assisting participants understand the concepts and design an interviewing training package which can then be delivered nationally and embedded into training at the Basic Recruit Courses in line with best international practice.

SSP Vusonilawe said the onus was on the participants most of whom directly deal with training and investigation, to ensure continuity in the delivery of the training packages at the Fiji Police Academy and throughout the Divisions.

The training delivered by the senior New Zealand Police advisors is part of the partnership programme between the New Zealand Police and Fiji Police announced in 2020 focusing on combatting transnational organised crime and enhancing investigative skills.
