Opening of Nakorotubu Community Post

The Prime Minister of Fiji Honorable Voreqe Bainimarama today officially opened the new Nakorobutu Community Post in Rakiraki.

The Nakorotubu Community Post has served the 7000 people in the area since 1990 and was badly destroyed by Cyclone Winston in 2006.

The Prime Minister said the new Post was build acknowledging the new climate reality knowing that storms like Winston would become more frequent.

“So when the next storms, this post will be standing when the skies clear. When the sun of a new day shines, our officers will be able to fulfil their duty and Fijians in Namarai Village and its surrounding areas can live in safety.”

The Prime Minister reminded members of the community on the outbreak of the COVID-19 earlier this year where they had to look at Police Officers and other Disciplined Forces to enforce the hard but necessary measures to stop its spread.

“Here in Namarai Village, we can see clearly that the role of our Police is not confined to the urban areas.

As we look to make peri-urban and rural areas in Fiji more livable, investments in good policing provide the foundation of security that every community needs to thrive.”

The new re-build post will serve more seven thousand people within the four districts including Bureiwai, Kavula, Nakorotubu and Navitilevu.
