Unveiling the Ministry of Social Welfare's Prevention against Child Abuse billboard

Child abuse and neglect is an alarming problem and increased attention, awareness and efficient protection skills and preventive measures is vital and should be adopted from grass root to national level.

These were the sentiments echoed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu when unveiling the Ministry of Social Welfare’s Prevention against Child Abuse billboard at Nayavu District School compound in Wainibuka yesterday.

With a theme HEALTHY HOME, HELP CHILDREN GROW, the event was held to focus on the importance of having a child friendly environment so that it can positively impact a child’s development.

More than one hundred people from within the four districts of Wainibuka have witnessed the unveiling of the Prevention against Child Abuse billboard yesterday which coincided with the launching of the Wainibuka Crime Prevention Post Central Committee.

DCP Tudravu encouraged parents, communities, faith-based leaders, and the people of Wainibuka to work together for their children by guiding them, listening to them, and caring for them in order to help them become the best versions of themselves.

“Our future leaders deserve to feel loved, trusted, cared for, protected, and respected.”

This is the first time to unveil a billboard in supporting the fight against Child Abuse in the Wainibuka area and concerted effort put forward by members of the twenty-one villages including settlements and other stakeholders was commended by the Fiji Police Force.

DCP Tudravu also advising parents and guardians to keep a close watch on their children and spend quality time with them during this festive season.
