Pacific Command and Control Incident Management Program

The ninth Pacific Command and Control Incident Management Program facilitated by the Australian Federal Police in collaboration with the New Zealand Police is currently underway at the Fiji Police Academy in Suva.

The series of workshops is aimed at creating a philosophy of command and coordination amongst Police officers of all ranks.

Opening the Headquarters Division workshop yesterday was the Australian High Commissioner His Excellency John Feakes who acknowledged the efforts of Police in maintaining law and order during the challenging COVID-19 period as well as other national operations.

Mr Feakes said Police in playing the lead security role needed to be well equipped with the knowledge of how to handle major incidents.

He called on the participants to learn as much as possible and not be afraid to make mistakes as the training will assist them in understanding what is needed to effectively respond to major incidents.

Facilitator AFP’s Detective Superintendent of Police Glen Fisher program was designed for Fiji and is consistent with training in Australia, and the AFP is working with the New Zealand Police to deliver the training in the Pacific and this package has been tailor made for the Pacific environment.
