Commissioner of Police acknowledged with sincere gratitude Fiji High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea His Exellency Jackson Evans's leadership


The Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu was accorded a traditional ceremony of welcome by members of the Fijian community residing in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea on Sunday 20th July, 2025.

The Commissioner of Police acknowledged with sincere gratitude Fiji High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea His Exellency Jackson Evans's leadership, as the traditional reception held in his honour was reflective of the close kinship that exists amongst the Fijian community in Port Moresby.

The Commissioner of Police is in Port Moresby to attend the Pacific Policing Initiative (PPI) Design Steering Group meeting and the Pacific Chiefs of Police Forum, followed by the inaugural Pacific Police Tattoo bringing together Police bands from PNG, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Nauru, Tonga, the Solomon Islands and Samoa.

The Commissioner said he was grateful to meet fellow Fijians during his travel, and appreciated the fact that traditions and protocols were observed and well ingrained throughout the world, preserving the Fijian identity deeply rooted in respect and honour.

Commissioner Tudravu also acknowledged the High Commissioner and Fijian community for their hospitality in looking after the Fiji Police Band since their arrival into Port Moresby, ahead of the Australian Federal Police supported Pacific Police Band Tattoo on the 22nd of July 2025.

Supported by the Australian Federal Police under the Pacific Policing Initiative (PPI), the Pacific Police bands is anticipated to showcase Pacific culture and tradition through music, as well as the opportunity to strengthen policing relationships through the love of music.

The Commissioner also held a talanoa session clarifying issues about policing.
