Of the forty-six (46) people arrested for COVID-19 restriction breaches, seven (7) were arrested in Kadavu after they were found drinking alcohol at the Vunisea Jetty.
The 7 cases of failure to comply with orders in Kadavu were part of the thirty-one (31) arrests made in the Southern Division which included twenty-four (24) arrests for social gathering breach.
Five of the seven arrested were contractors working in Kadavu while two were from Vunisei Village.
The Western Division recorded twelve (12) arrests, nine (9) for social gathering and three (3) for curfew breach.
East recorded three (3) cases of breach of social gathering restrictions.
The three cases were reported in Korovou following the arrest of three men who were found drinking liquor at the Deepwater Settlement Korovou yesterday afternoon.
One of the suspects a 40-year-old lecturer residing in Nakasi also allegedly tried to bribe a Police officer by offering $500.00 to be released from custody.
He also faces an additional charge of drunk driving.
While we are nearing the weekend there's a tendency for people to let their guard down and this must not happen.
We cannot afford to be complacent and having a mindset that things are normal will be detrimental to the ongoing efforts of containing COVID-19.
We are not out of the woods yet.
