BATCH 67 BEGINS RECRUIT TRAINING

The Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew this morning, officially welcomed two hundred and twenty four (224) Police recruits to the Fiji Police Force.

The 224 recruits consist of 119 male officers and 105 female officers, including officers from the Tuvalu Police Service. In officially opening the four month Basic Recruits Training Certificate in Policing Level IV/ Batch 67, the Acting Commissioner said, “This is not a profession for the faint or weak hearted. You will be tested, your patience pushed to its limit.

It will take a toll on you mentally, physically and spiritually. Policing is a profession that requires complete dedication, a strong will, patience, understanding, empathy and last but not the least integrity”.

The Acting Commissioner welcomed the ten recruits from the Tuvalu Police Service, reaffirming Fiji’s commitment to assisting its regional law enforcement partners. “Policing is reliant on partnerships, and to keep our Pacific region safe, we need to work together.

Hence the reason as to why Fiji takes pride in offering training opportunities such as this to our regional partners, through the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police, Pacific Community for Law Enforcement Cooperation, key word being cooperation”.

In light of a few negative issues confronting the organization, the Acting Commissioner also spoke on maintaining the integrity of the policing profession. “The Fiji Police Force is a disciplined organization.

We are members of the disciplined forces, emphasis on the word discipline”. “Do not abuse the authority that has been bestowed upon you. If you are ever in a situation where your integrity will be tested, think about your career, your institution, and most importantly your families".

"I saw the pride on their faces as you marched in two Sundays ago. I saw how they cried tears of joy knowing that you’ve made it, and are now a member of the Fiji Police Force.

I want you to make a commitment, to never let your families suffer through your actions”. The Acting Commissioner also acknowledged the presence and support of the New Zealand Police Senior Advisors.

The BRC Training is expected to end in June.
