Courtesy Call by US Embassy Defense Attache


The United States Embassy’s Defense Attache’ appreciates that Fiji is friend to all and enemy to none.

Sentiments conveyed to the Fiji Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho by United States Embassy Senior Officials during a courtesy visit at the Fiji Police Headquarters today.

Present during the courtesy visit was the incoming United States Embassy Regional Security Officer Special Agent Samuel J McRae, Defense Attaché Commander Victor Lange and outgoing Special Agent Anthony Bogden with the DSS Overseas Criminal Investigations Division.

The Commissioner of Police acknowledged and thanked the Government of the United States of America for its partnership in enhancing the capacity and capabilities of the Fiji Police Force through various forms of assistance.

Brigadier General Qiliho said the Fiji Police Force appreciated the support and cooperation of its bilateral partners as it sought to maintain a safe and secure Fiji and the Pacific region.

The senior United States Officials in acknowledging Fiji’s reputation as a leader in the Pacific region in matters of security, said their intent was to work in close collaboration with its regional partners for enhanced interoperability to be able to deliver specific assistance programs.

They further committed to working together with the Fiji Police Force and its regional partners to be able to deliver integrated multilateral assistance programs with the common goal of achieving greater sense of security in light of the growing sophistication of the policing and criminal landscape.

All parties agreed that a collective approach was needed to effectively respond to new and emerging security challenges that were now a real threat to the Pacific region.
