Modernized PCCC


A modernized Fiji Police Coordination and Command Centre (PCCC) housing the latest in technological law enforcement capabilities was opened in Suva yesterday.

Officiating at the soft launch, Minister for Defence, National Security and Policing Honourable Inia Seruiratu acknowledged the support of the Australia and New Zealand Governments for providing technical and financial support.

“Your continued support towards enhancing security cooperation between our countries is deeply rooted in our common understanding that the Pacific region is safer and secure when we work together”.

“The veilomani and vuvale spirit that embodies our partnership will not only benefit the current generation but many generations to come”.

The Australian High Commissioner to Fiji His Excellency John Feakes said Australia values the wonderful working relations between the three Police Forces echoing sentiments made by the Hon. Minister for Defence.

“I’m particularly happy that the delivery of the PCCC was a result of a product of a joint collaboration between our three police forces highlighting the close partnership the three of us enjoy”.

Mr Feakes said Australia’s assistance also focused on capacity building to ensure the PCCC would be able to deliver best practices in incident command and control.

“The AFP and the FPF Academy collaborated to contextualize contemporary emergency management practices into a bespoke incident command and control system for the Fijian environment, and the training package was co-delivered to over 240 officers across four divisions”.

The New Zealand High Commissioner to Fiji His Excellency Mr Jonathan Curr said the upgraded Command Centre was a testament of the true partnership that exists between Fiji, Australia and New Zealand.

Mr Curr gave assurances of his Government’s continued support towards strengthening security cooperation between the three countries.

“The PCCC is used daily coordinating all aspects of the Fiji Police work including the COVID 19 police operations and the value of the PCCC will continue to be enhanced through ongoing support by Australia and NZ working closely with our colleagues in the Fiji Police Force”.

“Through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade funded Fiji Police Partnership program, NZ Police are working with Fiji Police to maximize the efficacy of the PCCC through Command and Control Leadership training”.

Fiji’s Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said the modernization of the PCCC was envisaged to assist policing efforts noting the evolving criminal landscape.

He expressed the institution's gratitude for the assistance provided by the AFP and NZ Police Liaison Officers.

“We look forward to more forms of police cooperation with the AFP and NZ Police and on behalf of the Fiji Police Force I once again say, vinaka vakalevu”.

“I can assure Your Excellencies, that all these resources will be utilized for its intended purpose to better serve the people of Fiji and our visitors as we work on security, stability and prosperity of our countries”.
