Inspectorate Officers Commissioned after completing the Cadet Course

From the canefileds and secondary school classrooms to being newly Commissioned Inspectorate officers, Woman Inspector Torika Raguru and IP Iliatia Ratu Ramaya say the rewards of hardwork and sacrifice are even sweeter when you've overcome so many challenges to reach your goal.

The duo were two of the Inspectorate Officers Commissioned this past week after successfully completing the Cadet Course.

Hard work and sacrifice are two important tools of success and both reiterated that if there is a will then there would always be a way.

Inspector Ramaya who hails from the island of Mali in Macuata was a cane cutter for three years after completing his secondary education while W/Inspector Raguru from Naselai,Nuku in Tailevu was a school teacher for five years.

IP Ramaya said his struggles as a cane cutter made him more determined to succeed after he was given the opportunity to catapult his policing career and the lessons learnt from his days in the cane fields came in handy during the course.

Sleepless nights was a common aspect of life for the two officers, and in order to overcome the hurdle, W/IP Raguru relied on the Almighty's guidance to help her achieve her goal of becoming a young officer.

W/IP Raguru is no stranger to life in the disciplined forces with her father being a military officer and said they had to follow the command given irrespective of whether they liked it or not.

She said she never dreamt that one day she would also be issuing commands, but she knows that she herself must live a disciplined life and lead by example.

Both young officers say they hope that their stories will inspire the youth of today not to lose hope when facing challenges, and that by putting your head down and working hard the rewards will be worth the struggle.
