Opening of the Pacific Community for Law Enforcement Cooperation

The Pacific Community for Law Enforcement Cooperation [PCLEC] meeting is currently underway at the Novotel Conference room in Lami where eighteen participating countries in the region are involved.

Also present at this meeting is the Executive Director for the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police Secretariat Mr Carl Mclennan.

Participants over the next two days will finalize the design of the PCLEC Training concept before taking up the finalize design to the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police Leadership Team. The document will then be considered for endorsement during the PICP meeting which will be held in Fiji in August 2020.

This delivery approach aims to address a number of issues facing police development programs in the Pacific.

This includes donor crowding and coordination, insufficient operational evidence, a focus on training over more comprehensive approaches and a lack of local adaptation in the design and delivery of development programs.
