Alleged Drowning

A 19year old from Yaladi Settlement, Waiyavi allegedly drowned whilst trying to save his sister yesterday.

The incident occurred in the Paipai Raiver.

The victim whilst attempting to rescue his 13year old sister who was struggling in deeper waters disappeared whereby his body was later found floating a few meters away.

His younger sister was eventually pulled safely to shore by another sibling.

The drowning toll currently stands at 28 compared to 24 for the same period last year.

Investigations continue.
