Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police Women Advisory Network

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bereta Naisua and Superintendent of Police (SP) Loraini Seru have been appointed the Chair and Deputy Chair of the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP) Women Advisory Network [WAN] body for the next two years.

The PICP WAN’s role is to support and enhance the contributions of women in policing within the Pacific Region with objectives of advising the PICP on issues affecting women officers.

During the launch of the PICP 5year Strategic Plan on Friday, SSP Naisua assured all 21 PICP member countries of Fiji’s commitment in continuing the work left behind by former WAN leaders towards the empowerment and advancement of Women in Pacific policing.

‘Our work in empowering police women in the Pacific and gender equality still has a fair bit to go and it’s an area with Fiji as WAN Chairs will be committed to achieving a balance of scales in terms of gender equality”.

“Pacific women officers in recent times have created history in the policing arena and it’s the success stories of our very own that we would like to retell and use as a platform of ensuring equal and full participation of women”.

The newly appointed WAN Chair also acknowledged the efforts and support of the PICP Chiefs and Secretariat in putting together the PICP WAN Strategic five-year direction.

“WAN acknowledges with sincere gratitude the PICP Chiefs for cultivating the culture of acceptance in the advancement of Pacific women officers as it has positively impacted our careers”.
