The Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho recently held a talanoa session with officers of and above the rank of Acting Inspector of Police.
The session saw officers from the Central, Southern and Eastern Division meet with the Commissioner of Police and senior command at the Fiji Police Academy, where they were able to openly discuss issues from the middle to senior management levels.
The Commissioner said the senior command at the Headquarters level were there to support officers on the front line administratively and logistically through policies and directives.
With more than 30 Police Stations and 70 community posts around Fiji, the Commissioner of Police said he relies on middle managers to effectively lead those under their command as they are the first point of contact for members of the public.
Brigadier General Qiliho said.
“Our job is to do the work for the people of Fiji. Security and stability for the people of Fiji will result in prosperity when we provide the conducive environment so we need to get things right”.
He said with ranks come more responsibilities and called on the middle? managers? to be firm and make tough decisions when needed.
The talanoa session also gave the opportunity for Officers to ask burning questions regarding the senior executive decisions impacting operations, administration and human resources.
