Senior Executive Development Strategy Workshop conclude

A two-day Police Senior Executive Development Strategy (PSEDS) Workshop was facilitated by the Pacific Faculty of Policing through the Australian Institute of Police Management in Suva this week.

The workshop is a follow-up from the initial PSEDS workshop for FPF Executives conducted and facilitated in early 2020.

The PSEDS is specifically designed for the Fiji Police Force where discussions and exchange of ideas is encouraged to align and consolidate consultation findings to organisational goals.

The Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho while summing up the two-day workshop said, “the Pacific Faculty of Policing has been an enabler to this important two-day process where we have come together to freely review and discuss strengths and weaknesses and look at the professional growth of the organisation and police officers”.

Brigadier General Qiliho added, “identifying leaders and those who can easily fill in anyone shoes is important and critical to that is education where we will continue to support educational opportunities provided to emerging leaders”.

Pacific Faculty of Policing Director Amanda McCormick said, “It has been a good process where ranks have been left at the door enabling conversation about how they are able to through professional and personal support contribute to supporting community and government developments”.

She added, “the last two days have been great, but it’s now about the next two days and the two days after and onwards and the commitment and support from leadership and being able to pass the ball to a new team, so that when there are new members they are able to continue running rather than crawling”.

The Pacific Faculty of Policing (PFP), a joint Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM) initiatve, brings together police leaders from across the Pacific for professional, leadership and executive development opportunities and enhancing policing leadership capabilities to manage current and emerging security threats in the region.
