PASSOUT Parade Commander


The 25th of February 2022 was a historic day for women in policing.

Taking Command of the Basic Recruits Pass Out Parade since women first joined the organization in the 1970s, was Superintendent of Police [SP] Aseri Rasowaqa Nakibo.

SP Nakibo was impressive as she commanded 184 newly recruited officers at the home of the Fiji Police Force in Nasova.

Originally from Nawaka in Nadi with maternal links to Vunaniu in Serua, SP Nakibo currently holds the post of Commandant at the Fiji Police Academy.

Having served more than ten years at the training school in Nasova, SP Nakibo says it is a significant day for Fijian Women in Policing.

The Commandant who is a former student of Nadi Sangam College was enlisted in 1995 and served at various stations including the Nadi Police Station, Lautoka Police Station, and the Western Division Headquarters.

SP Nakibo graduated with a Bachelor of Arts/ Policing/Management and Public Administration from the University of the South Pacific and also has a Post graduate Diploma in Governance.

The second eldest in a family of five, SP Nakibo has also graduated with a Certificate in Teaching Level 4 at Fulton College in 2021.

She was deployed to South Sudan under the United Nation Mission in South Sudan [UNMISS] in 2014 and attended various courses including the Senior female command course at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia in 2017, leadership course at the Hubei Police University in China in 2018.

In 2019 she attended the training / curriculum development course and balance program for women in leadership courses at the Australian Institute of Police Management in 2019 as well as other workshops in the region.

In 2020, SP Nakibo was one of three senior Women Fijian Police Officers seconded to the Pacific Community for Law Enforcement Cooperation (PCLEC) Delivery Coordination Team supported by the Australian Federal Police.

Due to COVID, the three were based at the PCLEC Fiji Chapter in Suva.

Married with three children, SP Nakibo said she owes her achievements to the Almighty and her family for the support rendered so far in her years of service.
