New Vehicle for Baulevu


A new Police vehicle was handed over to the Divisional Police Commander East today for the Baulevu Community Post.

Officiating the handing over ceremony was the Deputy Commissioner of Police Itendra Nair and witnessed by members of the newly formed Baulevu Crime Prevention Committee, senior Police officers and members of the community at the Baulevu Community Post.

The Deputy Commissioner said on behalf of the Commissioner of Police that all issues raised during a previous meeting attended by the Acting Prime Minister Hon. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum were quickly remedied to reinstill confidence among members of the Baulevu Community.

DCP Nair said more manpower was being pushed forward as well as a change in the Community Post officer.

The Deputy Commissioner acknowledged the Government for assisting Police in their efforts to enhance service delivery in rural areas through the provision of a new vehicle which had been equipped with separate telephone numbers which will be programmed into their systems.

He also acknowledged the efforts of the Baulevu Community in appointing their new Crime Prevention Committee members.

"Police officers will come and go, you will stay.

Police officers need your assistance and through your CPC we hope that you will all work together with your Post officer in finding solutions for the problems faced".

"All the issues raised during the last meeting have been taken on board and we view it as constructive criticism and will work hard on addressing our shortcomings for a better working relationship".
