Improving Customer Services Delivery

“Police Officers played a fundamental and significant role in our criminal justice system.”

Sentiments shared by the Acting Chief Justice Kamal Kumar while officiating at the opening of the Fiji Police Force Command Group Retreat.

The three-day FPF RETREAT which commenced yesterday is in conjunction with the Australian Federal Police, and the New Zealand Police.

With the theme of improving service delivery through Innovation, Networking and Cooperation, the Acting CJ highlighted that the Retreat will improve and enhance policies and guidelines put in place by the FPF Command Group to ensure the system of justice is enforced and implemented efficiently and diligently without fear, ill-will, or favor.

“Our system of justice is like a chain with various links. The chain link starts with the Fiji Police Force, then joins with the Office of Pubic Prosecution, Fiji Corrections Services, and the Courts.

According to the Acting Chief Justice access to justice is a hallmark of any democratic society and the government of the day has taken fundamental steps to ensure everyone has the right to access to justice.

“You are the one who collects evidence, contact witnesses at first instances and lay charges if evidence calls for it.

Prosecution then runs cases on the basis of evidence collected by the Investigating officers and that’s why your role as police officer is important in the justice system.”

He also singled out that certain officers tend to ignore such policies which reflect badly on the Force and not only this is what is faced by the organization in all other government departments.

The retreat is to allow members of the Command Group to review policies and procedures, evaluate systems and processes, and rethink resource allocation that best suits the focus of improving Customer Services Delivery Key government stakeholders were invited to assist the Command Group to identify strengths and weaknesses to help the organization.

These are all aimed at IMPROVING CUSTOMER SERVICES DELIVERY.

The three-day retreat brings together members of the Command Group including the Acting Commissioner of Police, the Deputy Commissioner, all Assistant Commissioners, Divisional Police Commanders as well as respective Commanding Officers.
