50th Anniversary of Women Officers


The organization this week commemorates the 50th Anniversary of women police officers existence since it's regularization into the Fiji Police Force.

50 years ago, on 17 December 1970, the year we gained independence as a nation, thirteen women became the first batch of Fijian women to join the Fiji Police Force as police officers.

In recognizing, women officer's contribution towards the organization both locally and internationally, planned activities such as community engagement in villages, awareness, old people's home visitation as well as the planting of trees will be part of the celebration in the four divisions simultaneously.

The soft launch was conducted last week by the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Honorable Mereseini Vuniwaqa whereby Retired Senior officers were invited including some of those that are still serving.

However, the main launch as scheduled will be officiated by the Minister for National Security, Defence and Policing Honorable Inia Seruiratu this Thursday at the Nasova Ground.

The weeklong celebration will be closed with a thanksgiving service this Sunday.
