The Fiji Police Force (FPF) Director of Forensic Science Services, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Margret Marshall has put the FPF on International spotlight when she scooped an Award at the 23rd Australasian Council of Women and Policing (ACWAP) Excellence in Policing Awards.
SSP Marshall won the Integrity and Courage Award, which acknowledges courage required to make the community and law enforcement better for everyone.
The Integrity and Courage Award seeks to acknowledge the moral courage, integrity and commitment required to challenge the status quo, speak out and break biases that negatively impact on women.
It includes resolving conflict or situations that require challenging established beliefs or practices and/or protecting others who are negatively affected by unlawful, discriminatory, or unethical practices or events.
It recognizes fortitude and the ability to reflect on the consequences of actions, to analyze their risks and long-term damage, and where the outcome brings about significant positive change for the parties involved.
Despite facing many challengers in her Policing Career spanning over 30 years including overcoming a 9-year-battle with Cancer, SSP Marshall is known for her display of courage and innovative leadership in the FPF Forensics Department.
SSP Marshall was among 4 Pacific law enforcement members of the council that were recognized at the event held at the International Convention Center event in Sydney, Australia.
Meanwhile, Samoa's Deputy Commissioner of Police, Papali'i Monalisa Tia'i-Keti, became the first Pacific member of ACWAP to win the Audrey Fagan Memorial Award.
