As the Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a heavy rain warning for the entire Fiji group, we are urging Fijians to follow the weather advisories closely and be mindful of their safety.
Chief of Operations Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdul Khan says officers are on alert to the possible impacts of the current weather spell which include flash flooding of low lying areas, localized flooding of iris crossings and informal settlements, poor visibility.
Drivers please take all necessary precautions and pedestrians are also urged to play their part and be mindful of their safety.
Mariners are also urged to monitor the developments in the weather situation.
Parents and guardians, we will continue to stress the importance of monitoring and supervision with children home for the day.
Don’t allow them to swim in flooded areas or in rivers and creeks.
Please ensure that they are home and well supervised throughout the day.
