Courtesy Call to INTERPOL SECRETARY GENERAL


The Commissioner of Police, Brig. Gen. Sitiveni T. Qiliho on the sideline of the 90th INTERPOL General Assembly 2022 held in New Delhi, India (19-21 Oct 22), paid a courtesy call on INTERPOL Secretary-General Mr. Jürgen Stock.

Discussions were held on issues of Pacific Policing pertaining to INTERPOL with Commissioner Qiliho updating on his handover of the Chairmanship of the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP) at the PICP Annual Conference 2022 held in Nadi, Fiji in August to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Amongst issues discussed were: 1. Crime Threats in the pacific region,

2. PICP Paper on the Blue Pacific, and

3. INTERPOL Global Threat Assessment.

The Secretary General also requested more support in the INTERPOL Vision, the facilitation for more secondments from the Pacific region and the support for more Pacific Island States to join the INTERPOL Network echoing the opening statement of India’s Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at the INTERPOL General Assembly 2022, “When nations and societies are becoming inward-looking, India calls for greater world cooperation.

When threats are global, the response can't be local. It's high time, the world should come together to defeat these threats”.
