Workshop Closing

The three days Fiji Police Force Investigative Interviewing for Fair and Effective Administrative of Justice Workshop concluded on Friday.

Fiji Police Force Chief Administration Officer (CAO) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Aporosa Lutunauga officially closed the workshop and reminded the course participants that they are now dealing with a society that knows more about their individual rights.

The CAO reminded them that we are dealing with a society that will hold the organization accountable for its actions.

As such he stressed that Human nature is such, in that, it’s hard to forget the negatives as bad news sells, travels fast, and lives for a very long time.

ACP Aporosa extended his appreciation to the Universitetet i Oslo (UiO), New Zealandfor facilitating the three day course for Fiji Police and Fiji Revenue and Customs Service officers.

‘’The evolution of human rights practices has seen the organization implement measures such as the Video Recording Interview Rooms and first hour procedure through the support of the New Zealand Government, New Zealand Police, UNDP and other stakeholders.’’

Ms Susane Hendrika from the Norwegian Centre of Human Rights thanked the participants for their interest during the three days workshop.

She reminded the participants that at times, they will be pressured and when that time comes, she asked them to think back of the three days learning that they had gone through.

Ms Susane also commended the leadership of the Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho for upskilling the Fiji Police Force on the importance of human rights.

The training was held at the FRCS Training Room in Nasese.
