The Fiji Police Force Support Project under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with funding support through the Government of New Zealand facilitated a community talanoa with over 50 women representing 26 villages in the Districts of Nakasaleka, Yale and Ono in Kadavu.
The talanoa was held in Tiliva Village Hall and focused on strengthening knowledge and informing participants of the service delivery pathways for survivors.
Women representatives had the opportunity to share experiences on unique challenges and realities of addressing issues of sexual offences in remote locations.
This initiative is a demonstration of stakeholder partnership between UNDP, Fiji Police Force, MSP, Empower Pacific, Ministry of Women, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, and the Office of the High Commission on Human Rights (OHCHR) thorough support provided by the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and the Kadavu Provincial Office.
