Restorative Justice Workshop

The opening of the Northern Division four-day Restorative Justice Workshop facilitated by the Pacific Centre for Peacebuilding was conducted at the Labasa Police Station Training Room this morning.

Present during the official opening was the PCP Executive DirectorMrs Florence Swamy, Divisional Police Commander Northern SSP Viliame Soko, Divisional Manager for Community Policing SP Luke Cerenasiga, Officer in Charge for the Northern Division Command & Control Centre IP George Lagi, Program Officer Mr John Tamani and representatives from stations within the division.

Speaking to the 30 participants, Mrs Swamy said one of their key roles is to strengthen capacities of Police officers in the Northern Division in Restorative Justice practices, principles and tools, so they can manage disputes and conflicts in their line of work in a non-violent manner.
