Vuvale Security Partnership Strengthen


A first for the Pacific, the Fiji Police Force is honoured to have hosted and met the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) and Director of the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC), Mr Michael Phelan.

Mr Phelan was accorded a Quarter Guard ceremony of welcome on his official visit to the Fiji Police Force yesterday, before holding discussions with Fiji’s Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho.

The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) is Australia's national criminal intelligence agency, and as ACIC CEO, Mr Phelan is responsible for management and administration of the ACIC’s intelligence operations and specialist capabilities, and for ensuring delivery of national policing information systems and services to partners.

Mr Phelan joined the Australian Federal Police in 1985 and has worked in various Policing units such as community policing, narcotics and serious fraud.

"I am very familiar with our relationship within the Pacific and the importance our Pacific partners play.

If you look at the partnership between Australia and Fiji especially on law enforcement, it has been very close for a long time”.

Brigadier General Qiliho said, “The Fiji Police Force is grateful for the opportunity to enhance working partnership between Fiji's vuvale partners Australia".

"Through increased efforts of the sharing of information and collaboration between Fiji and Australia, the region benefits as we know that the ripple effects will be felt within the Pacific.” Mr Phelan also had a chance to meet with the Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner’s and Directors. #Vuvale #partnership
